Song of the Day: Pistol Packin' Mama
I hope you all are having a great Sunday morning. Today we are jumping back to the 1940’s for today’s featured song. Bing Crosby is mostly associated with classic Christmas tunes, but he was one of the biggest musical acts during this time. Bing and the Andrews Sisters recorded this song back in 1943, but they weren’t the first to do so. The first recording of the song was by Al Dexter and His Troopers. It had more of a country/honky tonk sound and that drew the attention of Crosby. I’ll leave both versions of the song to see which one you like better. Crosby’s version was used on 2 video games, L.A. Noire and Fallout 4. I have played both games and they are fantastic. Often on L.A. Noire, I would just cruise the LA streets circa 1947 and listen to the radio programs. Both games had great soundtracks. I hope you all have a great day.
