Song of the Day: Who Let the Dogs Out

Man, what a hit this song was when it was released in the year 2000 by the Baha Men. And not just in the U.S., but it was making serious noise on the charts all over the world. I was very young when this song came out, but still remember hearing it absolutely everywhere. For some reason, hearing it at the local skating rink always stands out in my mind…which come to think of it, I’m sure that’s because it had 70% of the people there barking like dogs along with the song while it blasted on the speakers. Not everyone was a fan of the unusual song, though. Rolling Stone magazine released a poll in 2007 of “The 20 Most Annoying Songs,” where it ranked 3rd. The company Spinner ranked it #1 on their 2008 list of “The 20 Worst Songs Ever.” It wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and looking back on it, the song is pretty ridiculous. But I also think for people in my age range, it brings back memories of childhood, which is always a good thing, therefore eliciting positive feelings about the song.
