Song of the Day: Tied to the Music
Happy Friday everyone! Today, I wanted to feature the popular country music band Alabama. One of the founding members, Jeff Cook passed away a couple weeks ago at the age of 73 and I thought a tribute was in order. Growing up, I listened to a lot of country music and it wasn't uncommon to hear an Alabama song, just about every day, either on the local radio station or on my iPod. One of the unique things about Alabama at the time was that they were a full band, not just an individual member with rotating studio musicians performing alongside them. I’ll attach a hyperlink to Alabama, so you can research the band a little if you want to. Everyone that goes to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina knows how the band was famously “found” at The Bowery, a local bar there. Being that they had so many hits, wanted to find something I had never heard and I found it…their first studio album Wild Country. The song, “Tied to the Music” is a pretty generically worded song about how their life is music and such, but it has a pretty nice rhythm to it, even mentioning The Bowery. You can tell it is the 1970’s without even looking, as it was released in 1976. It has a very rockabilly, country, and maybe you could say psychedelic rock truthfully. I hope you enjoy this piece of Alabama history and have a great pre-Thanksgiving weekend!
