Song of the Day: Hard Time Killing Floor Blues

In keeping up with Monday’s (my pick) theme from Oh Brother Where Art Thou, today’s song of the day is Hard Time Killing Floor Blues. Originally released in the 1930s (when the movie takes place) by Skip James, the song was never really that popular. But when the movie came out in 2000 and Chris Thomas King sang it on the soundtrack, the song gained a new and broader audience as the soundtrack went to the #1 spot in the United States. One thing I never knew until yesterday is the fact that Chris Thomas King played Tommy Johnson in the movie. I just always thought it was a voice-over. What a great song though. Lots of emotion going into it and you can just hear the “hard times” through the guitar. Hope everyone has a great day.
