Song of the Day: Carolina in the Pines

Happy Friday everyone! Today’s featured artist on Song of the Day is Michael Martin Murphey and his song, “Carolina in the Pines”. I have heard this song before and I can’t tell you when…but I did hear it this week on our local country radio station. it definitely has a great folk/americana sound to it and I am a sucker for any Carolina songs. Michael Martin Murphey even mentioned in another video that his family came from North Carolina in the 1850’s to Texas where he was born. The song did get as high as #9 on the hot country charts in 1975, which is the year it was released. I’ll put a live version on here too so you can admire the banjo and piano playing.
