Charlotte FC Report: Week 15, 2022

After the first half last week, it seemed that Charlotte had a real shot to get their first win on the road, but it wasn’t the case. They were defeated by the Seattle Sounders 2-1, after giving up both of those goals in the second half. Ben Bender scored the lone goal for Charlotte in the 21st minute and it was his second of the season. Last Sunday’s result was bad enough, but it got even worse for the club this week. They relieved their manager, Miguel Angel Ramirez of his coaching duties. I think the majority of the fan base, including myself, was dumbfounded by this news. As an expansion club, I thought they were doing fairly decent, but clearly the management group didn’t see it that way. We don’t know everything that goes on behind the scenes, but this move just doesn’t make any sense. I could see if they only won like a game or two, but they were on a good stretch for a bit. Assistant Christian Lattanzio will be taking over head manager duties for the remainder of the season. We’ll see if it is the right move from here on out, but it isn’t good look for a club firing their manager just 14 games into their inaugural season.

Charlotte doesn’t have a matchup this week but will be back at home next week as they take on the New York Red Bulls in a rematch. They last played them just a couple weeks ago in a cup matchup and lost 3-1. Since they’re playing at home they’ll have that momentum on their side, but it will be another tough contest. I’ll go more into detail next week though.

Charlotte FC

It’s an off week for Charlotte, so there will be a lot rest and prep time for their upcoming matchup next week. It is obviously more difficult now that they have new manager at the helm, but things shouldn’t be too different, because from what I could tell they have the same staff. Hopefully this switch won’t be too harsh on the club and they can move forward. I could gripe about the ownership group, because they seem to be at blame here, but I won’t do that just yet. It’s too early for that and I don’t want to make any assumptions. So, for us Charlotte fans, all we can do is hope for better soccer in the coming months and hopefully our club can get back on the right track.
