Song of the Day: The Rover

The Rover by Led Zeppelin. Released in 1975 on the band’s double album Physical Graffiti. The song was never a huge hit or charted, but it does feature some great guitar work by Jimmy Page. The song actually was never even played live in it’s entirety. They would play some of the opening guitar riff as an introduction to other songs but never the full song. But the song was rehearsed in full and there is a bootleg version of the rehearsal from before the band’s Chicago show in 1973. And speaking of playing the introduction bars of this song, I saw a clip of the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing about the opening minute and fifteen of this song at their concert in Paris the other day.
