Charlotte FC Report: Week 21, 2022
I forgot to do a Charlotte FC Report last week and I’m starting to think it may be good luck if I forget to do them every once in a while. The home club has gone streaking. They’re on a two-game win streak and they finally picked up that first road win 2 weeks ago. Last week, they scored an astounding 4 goals against Nashville SC with 3 of those scores coming in the 2nd Half. The captain, Christian Fuchs, picked up his second goal of the season on a penalty in the 26th minute. Karol Swiderski broke his scoreless streak in the 61st minute and definitely had the best celebration of the season. Sergio Ruiz scored in 89th minute for his first goal of the season and Andre Shinyashiki is continuing to be an awesome acquisition for Charlotte scoring in the second half extra time. It feels great to highlight all of these goals. Hopefully they continue the good string of success that they have found over the last two contests.
This week Charlotte will head down to Miami and face their club for the second time this season. In the first meeting, Charlotte defeated Inter Miami CF, 1-0. Andre Shinyashiki scored the lone goal in his debut match for Charlotte. A couple months ago, there were rumors that Lionel Messi could potentially join Inter Miami CF in 2023 and possibly become an owner/player, but those rumors were shot down. It still is a possibility. It is crazy to think that we could see Messi in the MLS though. For now, Miami is struggling. They’re currently 11th in the East and are tied for the worst offensive output. Their defense isn't doing so hot either. Leonardo Campana leads the club with 8 goals this season. Charlotte proved already that they can beat this club, but going on the road has been a difficult task this season for them. They got that first win out of the way, so hopefully we can see the win streak continue after today.
