SummerSlam (2022) Predictions

The biggest party of the Summer is airing tonight, and it should be another good show. The card at first seems a little underwhelming compared to other SummerSlam shows, but I think we’re going to have a lot of great matches. The biggest story though isn't storyline related. Vince McMahon’s retirement has overshadowed any storyline in the WWE right now and that is understandable. We’ll get the first look at the Vince-less WWE and it should be interesting to see the new leadership take the reins in the coming weeks and months. Riddle vs. Seth Rollins was taken off of the card and nothing has been announced as a replacement as of yet though. Other than that, there are 8 matches on the card and I’m excited to watch tonight. Here are my predictions.

*Predicted Winners are bolded

WWE

-       No-DQ Tag Team Match

The Mysterios vs. Judgement Day

There are rumors that Dominik Mysterio could turn his back on his dad pretty soon and we could see it tonight. Judgement Day is slightly favored tonight at -190 and I think it will go that way. The group was taken back a peg with the replacement of Edge with Finn Balor, but still, they’re going to be a solid group for a little while. This will get the momentum rolling for them and could create an interesting twist between the Mysterios.

-       Men’s Singles Match

Logan Paul vs. The Miz

They’re trying really hard to get Logan Paul to be a babyface, but that will take a lot of time and honestly, I don’t think it can ever be done. However, he is a natural in the WWE. I knew after his WrestleMania match that he would be back, because it seemed like he just got it from the start. The Miz is a great opponent for him to have a match against. They’re both natural heels and I think they could have a continuation of this feud in the coming months. We’ll see how this goes, but for now, Logan Paul is highly favored at -800. I think it is a toss-up though.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match: United States Championship

Bobby Lashley (C) vs. Theory

Theory is definitely going to continue getting featured on WWE and if he plays his cards right, he’ll be featured for many, many years to come. Theory’s focus is on the briefcase right now, so he’ll likely lose here. This should be a great match though. Lashley is favored at -300. I honestly thought he would be a heavier favorite, but a favorite nonetheless. Lashley will win here and continue to be a strong US Champ.

WWE

-       Men’s Singles Match

Pat McAfee vs. Happy Corbin

This match is probably the one that I am most excited about. McAfee is money. Absolute Money. Each time he’s on the mic or in the ring, he is on fire. Talking about being a natural, Pat McAfee makes the program each time he is on. Corbin is always getting disrespect when it comes to his talent due to his gimmick, but he is fantastic at what he does. This should be a great match and I think McAfee will win and so does Vegas. He’s favored at -280 currently.

WWE

-       Women’s Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship

Liv Morgan (C) vs. Ronda Rousey

Unless something drastic happens here, I don’t expect Liv Morgan to retain. The chase to get the belt was always going to be the story for her and I don’t think they planned for her to have a lengthy title reign. I would like to see her continue the reign, but I don’t expect it. There will be more chances for Liv Morgan without a doubt, but they’re just going to go with Ronda right now, I can feel it. Liv is actually favored at -220 and that is very shocking to me. I think Ronda will get another reign under her belt tonight, unless, she’s taking a break after SummerSlam and I don’t think that’s the case.

WWE

-       Men’s Tag Team Match: Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship

The Usos (C) vs. The Street Profits

I think it’s going to be time for things to start unraveling for The Bloodline. I said this during their last match at Money in the Bank and I picked The Usos saying that The Profits time hasn’t come yet. A month later, I still don’t think it’s the right time. I think they’ll put on another great match and it’s cool to see Jeff Jarett enforcing this match tonight. By the way, Jeff Jarrett is competing tomorrow night during Ric Flair’s Last Match. As far as this match goes, The Usos are favored and I could see a title change happening tonight, but I’m not expecting it. Also, there are rumors that The Street Profits may split pretty soon, so a loss here could put the nail in the coffin.

-       Women’s Singles Match: RAW Women’s Championship

Bianca Belair (C) vs. Becky Lynch

This is going to be my surprise of the night. I think Becky Lynch will win back that belt. Bianca’s reign has been pretty weak and while I think she will retain, I have a feeling they’re going to switch things up. Not only that, I think we may see a Bianca heel turn pretty soon. I’m not saying we’ll see it tonight, but Becky has been giving me some babyface vibes here lately. I don’t know, maybe we’ll see a double-turn here. I expect Bianca to retain, but I feel like I can't completely go favorites in my predictions.

-       Last Man Standing Match: Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

Roman Reigns (C) vs. Brock Lesnar

We’ve seen this match many, many times and they tell us it will be the last one. I’ll believe it when I see it, but I will say this. Each time they’ve had a match, it is been decent, and it always has a big fight feel. Roman has held the Universal Championship for 699 days and if you remember correctly, he returned at SummerSlam 2 years ago when he speared The Fiend after he won the Universal Championship to end the show. At the next PPV, he won the title and hasn’t let go of it since. Roman remains the favorite in this contest and I think he will win yet again. It’s going to be a huge moment when he loses those belts, but it’s not going to happen yet.
