Clash at the Castle Predictions
This event has been a long time coming. The WWE is back in the UK with a PPV event and it should be a great one. It will be an odd time for a PPV for us in the United States, but the fans in Europe deserve this. It has been so long since they have had a big event and they have a good card for this long-awaited event. There are only 6 matches on the card so far, but it is poised to be a historic event. This is going to be a big weekend for wrestling and sports in general, but I’ll not waste any more time, let’s dive in.
*Predicted Winners are bolded
- Men’s Singles Match: Intercontinental Championship
Gunther (C) vs. Sheamus
Since the new era of WWE has been in effect, the minor championships have been highlighted more and more performers in general have been given more opportunities on screen. This is a fresh start for a lot of wrestlers in WWE. Gunther will likely win here, but I think Sheamus will ultimately win the belt pretty soon. The only thing missing from Sheamus’s legacy is an Intercontinental Championship reign. He has done practically everything else, but he has not won this belt. It may come to fruition today, but I wouldn't count on it. They are likely not done with each other and I think Sheamus will win at a later date. It’s also cool that everyone involved in this match will be European, so it’s cool to see them getting highlighted here.
- Men’s Tag Team Match
Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. The Judgement Day
This is pretty much a toss-up. I could see it going either way and I feel that way about practically every match on the card. I guess I’ll give the edge (no pun intended) to Balor and Priest. I think they will just lean on the new group getting put over. Odds for this match are pretty close, but Judgement Day has the slight edge.
- 6-Woman Tag Team Match
Bianca Belair, Asuka and Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai and Io Sky
The team of Bayley, Dakota Kai and Io Sky are debuting as a group all together as a trio for the first time today. It would be somewhat surprising for them to lose, even if they’re facing a group like Alexa Bliss, Asuka and Bianca Belair. Bayley has found her groove and it is a great thing to watch. This match could wind up stealing the show and I’m interested to watch this match in particular. All of these ladies have tremendous talent and sometimes we take for granted how loaded the women’s division actually is.
- Men’s Singles Match
Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins
This will be another toss-up decision here. I think Riddle gets the win, but I could see it going either way. I think this match could’ve benefitted from having a special stipulation. Despite the feud lasting for a few months now, it will just be a regular singles match. I’m a little surprised to see that, but nevertheless, it should be a great contest. I don’t know the plans for Riddle moving forward, so as far as I know, he will continue to get a push, since Rollins doesn’t really need to be pushed at this point in his career. Despite me thinking this, Rollins is slightly favored. Also, it’s interesting to see Riddle get his first name back.
- Women’s Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship
Liv Morgan (C) vs. Shayna Baszler
Regardless of whether or not Baszler wins the title, I think she will win the match. I just think there’s a big opportunity to have a Rousey/Baszler feud. Rousey’s suspension is no more, and she is allowed to compete again. With that being said, I think Rousey will get involved in this match, which is why I said that Baszler will win regardless of the title situation. Liv Morgan is heavily favored, but I really don’t understand why she is favored that highly. I honestly didn’t expect her to have the big of a reign, but here we are.
- Men’s Singles Match: Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (C) vs. Drew McIntyre
Roman Reigns has been Universal Champion for over 2 years, but I think it is time to move on. His reign has been one of the most historic in WWE history and you could honestly say that it was the most successful reign in WWE history. Nobody in the modern era has had this kind of reign and to be fair, Roman Reigns has been far and away the biggest act in WWE for quite some time. With all of that being said, I could be wrong about my prediction. It’s not a given that he will drop the title just yet and it isn't exactly a sure thing that McIntyre will take down the Tribal Chief, but I think there is every indication of a title change coming soon. McIntyre has been on a different level since Triple H took over and I think a lot of people thought that McIntyre was going to be the guy to take down Roman when he moved to SmackDown, but with the addition of Cody Rhodes, things weren’t exactly clear as to the person to take down Roman. Some thought it would be The Rock, but that doesn’t make any sense. I think it will be Drew McIntyre to take him down. Whether that be today or sometime in the future, I think it will be him. The setting is perfect for McIntyre to have that big moment that he deserves in front of this UK crowd.
