Song of the Day: Be Bop a Lula
Happy Friday everyone! I thought I would feature an old rock-n-roll hit today by legend Gene Vincent. A lot of people that hear this song, think this is Elvis Presley…and while the similarities are undeniable in style, it sadly isn’t. Gene was with Capitol Records and it was merely competition with RCA to have the biggest rock star. The single “Be-Bop-a-Lula” was released in 1956 and got up to #7 on the Billboard charts. The mid 1950’s signified a massive shift in the globe’s musical preferences and songs like this one helped create modern music. I’ll feature a music video as well as a live performance of Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps…they all wore Blue Caps…at least in the video haha! I hope you enjoy your Friday, kick back with this rockabilly hit and have a wonderful weekend!
