Song of the Day: Deck the Halls (Movie Clips)
The weeks are speeding by as 2024 is knocking on our door and Christmas season is here! Today, I wanted to do something a little different. Christmas movies are being played on major networks everywhere and I wanted to feature a song called, “Deck the Halls” but in two of my rotational Christmas flicks (Christmas Vacation and Christmas Story). First, we have the Chinese restaurant scene from a Christmas Story. No spoilers here if you haven’t seen it, but this makes me feel good. You may think, wow that’s strange, it seems like the whole thing is a joke, but I feel a sense of realness in this clip. The restaurant is so happy that people are there dining with them that they want to honor the custom of having Christmas, and even celebrate with them by caroling a few tunes. Don’t get me wrong, it is funny, but I do think it’s a wholesome funny.
The other scene is from arguably my favorite National Lampoon’s: Christmas Vacation. There’s no getting around this scene, it is pure comedy, but one that a lot of Americans can relate too. The stress of the holiday season brings a certain side out of you sometimes, and this movie depicts it in the most hilarious way compared to any other similar plot movie. Enjoy the Griswold’s trip to get the illustrious Christmas tree!
