Today’s song featured Merle Haggard. I haven’t made him a featured artist in a while, but you’re in for a treat today. The song was released in 1974 and it reached number one on the country charts. Merle Haggard wrote a lot of his own hits, but he did not write this one. This one was written by the legendary Dolly Parton. I never knew that until I done a little research on it, but now that I’m hearing it, it sounds like a Dolly song. Merle did a great job on it and it is the the most popular version of the song.
