Have you ever wondered how your favorite NFL team got their nickname? Sure, there are some that are pretty self-explanatory, such as the Steelers representing the steel industry rooted in the city of Pittsburgh. Or the Texans, which encapsulate the city of Houston’s location in the Lone Star state. But there are many other team names that may seem like they were randomly selected from a hat and don’t make nearly as much sense.
Throughout this year, I have been exploring each of the NFL’s 32 teams to find out exactly how they received their nickname. It has been a run researching journey and I have learned a lot.
