WWE Predictions for 2024

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to another year of WWE Predictions. At the beginning of each year I write a prediction article for what I think could happen, and some things to potentially keep an eye on all year long. I am having a tough time with the WWE side of things, because everything is going so well with them. I think that makes the prediction thing tougher when there are more options. That is a good thing though. So, let me explain what I am doing here. I will give my general opinion about the state of the WWE. This gives me a great opportunity to talk about any general topic within the WWE. In the past, I have either expressed optimism or pessimism heading into the new year. Next, I will give 5 talking points for the WWE in the new year. This will be any topic of my choosing and it usually revolves around things that are either rumored or some things that I feel like could be prevalent in the new year. To finish things off, I will give 10 bold predictions for the upcoming year. These usually involved milestones or feats during the year with random superstars. However, they could be signing predictions or really anything. It is my time to get creative with some predictions. Well, I won’t keep rambling. Here are my predictions for 2024 in WWE.

Current State of WWE

The WWE is in a fantastic place right now. They are a global powerhouse and business is truly booming. These last couple of years have been some of the most successful years in company history. For now, the TKO merger has been a fantastic thing for WWE. International venues are getting more attention and we are seeing multiple PPV events (yes, I will always call them PPVs) in places like France, UK, Australia, Saudi, and Puerto Rico. I expect them to expand further throughout the world in the upcoming years and that is a great thing. Selfishly, I hate that there will probably never be another PPV in places like North Carolina, but that is OK. I realize that is a small picture thing to be upset about. I have no complaints about the WWE right now. They seemingly can’t miss right now. This year feels like it will be even bigger than last year for the WWE.

What Will WWE Do with CM Punk?

Well, hell is freezing cold. CM Punk has returned to the WWE and is back in the fold. After his abrupt departure from AEW, Punk returned to the company that made him famous. It is no secret that controversy follows him wherever he goes and whatever he does. Will his return be a success? Will he ruffle feathers in the WWE again? How long will it take to do so? Is he worth the trouble? These are all questions that fans are wondering, and I don’t have an answer to any of them yet, so my best advice for you is to keep watching and don’t get too wrapped up in things that you have no control over. Just enjoy the product the best way that you know how.

As for Punk on TV. I think he is great for TV. I have made no secrets about not being his biggest fan, but I have to respect what he does. He is old-school wrestling in a new day in age. CM Punk loves rasslin’ and you can tell it. He doesn’t get along with everyone, but who does? He makes you feel something as a fan and whether you like him or not, he is doing his job and doing it well. With all of that being said. Who knows what is next for Punk? I did this exact topic in my article for AEW in 2023, and I am of the belief that no matter what he does, it is a great thing that he is back in wrestling. It appears that Rollins is his next big feud, but after that, options are virtually endless. Roman Reigns? Cody Rhodes? Randy Orton? Kevin Owens? Judgement Day? Shall I say, AJ Styles? Personally, I wouldn't be shocked if he wins the Rumble and faces Roman at Mania. Do I think it is likely? Probably not, but the possibilities are truly endless. He hasn’t made any secret about headlining WrestleMania being a top goal of his and I think he will do it one way or another either this year or next. I just want to throw it out there that Punk is currently the odds-on favorite to win the Rumble.

Is It Getting Too Crowded?

Kind of piggy-backing off of the last topic, things are getting a little snug at the top. This can be a good thing, but fans have a reason for concerns. Obviously, this isn't too stressful for fans, because we are ultimately winning here. I had this topic ready on reserve if it happened, but The Rock did show up on RAW last night. He showed up on SmackDown back in September. Back in September, I thought to myself, he might have just shown up because he happened to be in town, but then I thought, he is probably getting the fans used to seeing him again for a return. I think the latter was confirmed last night. The Rock seemingly confirmed that he has his sights set on the Tribal Chief. With that being said, does this disrupt other plans? Will Roman drop the belt prior to WrestleMania? What about Cody Rhodes or CM Punk or Randy Orton? I think everything will be just fine, but these are some interesting things to think about. Not only that, but there are rumors of other potential signings coming to WWE that could make things even more interesting. It is a good problem to have too much big talent than not enough, so we’ll see where it goes from here, but circling back to my “Current State of WWE” portion, business is booming, and it is a wonderful time to be a WWE fan or a wrestling fan in general.

Superstars of 2024

I normally reserve this portion for breakout stars or superstars that I think will make the biggest impact. Personally, I am having a tough time picking a person that really isn't featured that could break the glass ceiling this year. I think this will be a year of established stars solidifying their legacies. In my 2023 article, I predicted Cody Rhodes and while I didn’t consider him a breakout star, he was my pick to make the most impact on the men’s side. I also said that Gunther will likely have a breakout 2024. I am keeping my pick from January 2023. Gunther will be your superstar of 2024 on the men’s side. He has already shattered the Intercontinental Championship tile reign record. It appears that the seeds are being sewed for he and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and I think he has a good shot to earn his first major championship this year. I’m excited to see what Gunther can do this year.

On the Women’s side, it is seemingly more difficult. However, I have someone in mind who I think will have an outstanding year. She is a vet that is due for another run. She also just signed a new deal. That woman is Bayley. She didn’t have one televised title shot in 2023 and it just feels like she is poised to have a big year. She hasn’t held gold since 2020. Bayley has been consistently one of the best superstars in the WWE and I just feel like she will lead the women’s division this year.

Who is Re-Signing?

I know with wrestling contracts, they’re not exactly as cut and dry as other sports, but from what I am seeing, there are a lot of superstars in their contract year in the WWE. It is believed that Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, potentially Sami Zayn, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, The New Day, and The Street Profits are all due for their contracts to end in 2024. With that being said, are all of these superstars going to back or are they going to be elsewhere? Well, I am going to go out on a limb and say Seth and Becky will be back. I can't imagine them leaving to go anywhere else or The New Day for that matter. As for the rest, I could see them all leaving.  That doesn’t mean I think all of them will. It is a big year for free agents and it will be interesting to see who goes where. I am going to make a prediction and say that I think Drew McIntyre is on his way out. It just feels like he is done with WWE to me. I also think AJ Styles will leave, if his contract truly runs out this year. Keep your eye on some big changes this year.

Where Are We Going to Watch RAW Moving Forward?

It has been confirmed that SmackDown will be moving to the USA Network at the beginning of their next season and NXT will be moving to the CW. Both of them will make their moves in October. However, RAW is without a home for their upcoming season. This is a big deal when it comes to the viewing experience for fans, but I have no doubts that they will announce a big deal in the coming weeks. There have been talks that Warner Bros could be in the mix and that would certainly be interesting, considering that Warner Bros is the home of All Elite Wrestling. Do I think that will happen? Probably not, but who knows? How ironic would that be? RAW vs Nitro in the Monday Night Wars, then RAW claiming their home on TBS/TNT? That would be crazy. It will be interesting to see where the new home of RAW will be in 2024.
