Marlins Unveil New Logo: What Do You Think?
Let me start off by saying I hate to make fun of the Marlins two days in a row. They’re just such a historic, fan-crazed, perfect example of a franchise, and how one should be ran. FALSE, the Marlins are terrible (Dwight Schrute’s voice). The reason they are in the news is because they have unveiled a brand new logo to begin using for the 2019 season. The new logo is on the right, while the logo they are going away from is on the left on the picture below.
My first reaction? Hold on a second and I’ll let you know after I turn up the brightness on my computer screen. Oh, the logo is just that dark. There’s not near enough brightness to contrast with the black background. There feels like there should be more to it than that. Something to take up more of that black empty space. The logo also looks to me like a neon sign. Like something you would expect to see on the outside window of a dimly lit bar. But I’ll be honest, the logo isn’t ALL bad. I like the fish combined with the baseball seams, and the Marlins script at the bottom looks professional. To sum it all up, it looks like a pretty good start to designing a new logo, they just have to finish it. However, I think it is A LOT better than their kiddie-looking logo of the past several years. That was just horrendous…so at least they are getting better. But until you fix the product on the field, nobody will really care too much about the logo in the first place. What do y’all think?
