Elimination Chamber Predictions

Elimination Chamber is this Sunday and things are getting interesting on the Road to WrestleMania. This PPV is a rather short one, but it isn’t without intriguing matches. I think there will be a great deal of things to take away from this show and we might even see some special appearances from superstars that we weren’t expecting. The chamber is the most daunting structure in the WWE and chaos is guaranteed to ensue. There are two matches inside the chamber and both will be matches that will have you on the edge of your seat. Along with the two chamber matches, there are five more matches that will be on the slate. Let’s not waste any more time, here are my Elimination Chamber predictions.

*Predicted Winners are bolded

*Matches likely aren’t in the exact order

-      Men’s Singles Match – Cruiserweight Championship

Buddy Murphy (C)vs. Akira Tozawa

The match for the Cruiserweight Championship will be in the pre-show again, but this time in just a regular singles match. At Royal Rumble, it was a Fatal 4-Way match and Buddy Murphy retained his title in an action-packed thriller. His opponent for this PPV was also in the Fatal 4-Way at Royal Rumble and looked like a legitimate title contender. Akira Tozawa earned the number one contender spot on 205 Live a couple weeks ago and the former champion will look to earn his second Cruiserweight Championship reign. I really wanted to pick Tozawa in this match, but I think Murphy has been such a strong champion, I think that he will not relinquish it at the moment. Since it is in the pre-show again, I don’t think it will steal the show, but it certainly will have some great moments.

1.    6-Team Elimination Chamber Match – WWE Women’s Championship

Nia Jax and Tamina vs. The IIconics vs. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville vs. The Riott Squad vs. Naomi and Carmella vs. Bayley and Sasha Banks

I really don’t know the order in which these matches will go, but since there are two matches in the chamber, one of them will kick the PPV off. I believe in this case it will be the match for the new Women’s Tag Team Championships, but I could be wrong. This match will be fun to watch, but the outcome will likely be a predictable one. Among the teams in the contest, I think Naomi and Carmella will have the least chance to win, because they literally were a makeshift team to fill the last spot. The Riott Squad with Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan are probably the next team in line to least likely win the title. It would be a different story if Ruby Riott were in this match, but we’ll talk about her later. If it were a personal preference, I would want the IIconics to be the first champs, but I know it probably won’t happen. I’m not going to think too hard about this one. Bayley and Sasha are going to be the first champs and I think the last team eliminated will be Nia Jax and Tamina.

2.    2-on-1 Handicap Match – WWE Intercontinental Championship

Bobby Lashley (C) and Lio Rush vs. Finn Bálor

I never understand why they book a handicap match when a singles championship is on the line, but here we are. I personally don’t think that the WWE is going to waste any more time with Lashley’s title reign. I think that Bálor will win the title on Sunday night. Lashley’s title reign will only be 30 days on Sunday and I think that is where it will end. I like Bobby Lashley, but the way they have been booking him has been absolute crap. Putting the belt on Bálor is something that the fans want to see and in this case, it makes him look very strong defeating two opponents. They very well could keep the title on Lashley, but this seems like an opportunity for a face to emerge victorious and bring positive momentum into RAW the next night. The addition of Lio Rush seems like a tactic to prolong the match, but it should be a decent one to watch.

3.    No Disqualification Singles Match

Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin

Why are we seeing this match for what seems to be the one millionth time? They have really ran this feud into the ground and I hope this is the end of what has been a train wreck of a rivalry. Since being taken out of his Royal Rumble match with Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman has been very close to irrelevancy. We are proud of the Sherrills Ford native and we want to see him be as successful as possible, but I feel like the WWE is dismissing him for some reason. He should be in consideration for a major title based on his mere presence and honestly should be the Universal Champion right now, but here we are. Baron Corbin has literally no direction at the moment, but I think he could somehow win this match just because of his alliance with Drew McIntyre. I think Strowman will win the match with the help of Kurt Angle. They have formed somewhat of an alliance and I think that will be enough to stave off Corbin and McIntyre. I’m not expecting much out of this match.

4.    Men’s Tag Team Match – SmackDown Tag Team Championship

The Miz and Shane McMahon (C) vs. The Usos

This match is literally a toss-up at this point. I could see The Usos taking the titles, but then again, I don’t think it will happen yet. The next PPV seems like the time that McMahon and Miz will lose the titles. It just seems like there would be too much time to maintain sufficient heat from now until WrestleMania, that is if they face off against each other in April. The fact that Jimmy Uso was arrested this week (insert Uso Penitentiary joke) and was reportedly trying to fight cops doesn’t help matters, but I don’t think that will factor into the decision to make them champions or not. I think Miz and McMahon retain, but I’m expecting a rift between the two on Sunday night to cause a little friction moving forward.

5.    6-Man Elimination Chamber Match – WWE Championship

Daniel Bryan (C) vs. Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles

This may close the show, but I think it will be just before the main event. The WWE Championship hasn’t been in the spotlight at all this year, so this would make sense to me. I have said this before and I will say it again, I don’t think Daniel Bryan drops his title on Sunday night. His reign as WWE Champion has been great, even though I hate the look of the new title. At this point, Jeff Hardy is the least likely to win the match in my book with Kofi Kingston just ahead of him. I think AJ Styles is just ahead of them personally and I think that Styles will be heading to RAW during the Shake-Up after WrestleMania, because there really isn’t anything else for him to accomplish on SmackDown. If Daniel Bryan loses the title, I think it will be Samoa Joe taking the title, but if Triple H and Batista can’t happen at WrestleMania, look for Orton to possibly be champion with he and The Animal squaring off at MetLife Stadium in April. This will be a fun match to watch and with talks of a possible Bray Wyatt return in the works, we may see an appearance from him. Who Knows?

6.    Women’s Singles Match – RAW Women’s Championship

Ronda Rousey (C) vs. Ruby Riott

The more I thought about it, I think this will close out the show on Sunday night. This seemed like a match that was just thrown together and honestly that’s probably exactly what it was. Overthinking the outcome of this match would do no good. Ronda Rousey will not lose Sunday, but they will keep it interesting. The only time I have heard anything resembling a shot that Ruby Riott has an actual chance to win this match is from Ruby Riott herself. I like to listen to Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM and Bully Ray mentioned the possibility of shaking things up in this particular matchup, but it wouldn’t make any sense at this point, unless Ronda wins the title back at Fastlane. I’m not dismissing it, but that seems highly unlikely. Charlotte Flair mentioned that she will have a front row seat to the match, but also said that she wouldn’t get involved. We’ll see about that, but I would be disappointed if Becky Lynch doesn’t crash the party. It just seems like this match will not be without an interruption. If there happens to be a DQ, the title obviously will not change hands. There is no chance that Ronda Rousey will not be RAW Women’s champion heading into WrestleMania, and there absolutely will be no Women’s main event if she isn’t in the equation. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this one.
