J. Scott's Thoughts on Anthony Davis Trade DRAMA
What's up Sports Chief nation! The media has been buzzing with news regarding Anthony Davis and major moves around the NBA... I want to join the buzz and give my opinion on possible places AD can land.
First, let's talk what AD wants. Anothy Davis has been a dominant force in the league since leaving Kentucky as a freshman and being drafted by the Pelicans in 2012. AD is now realizing if he wants to win and compete, he will have to follow the Lebron James trending of joining other superstars. AD has expressed A LOT of interest in joining the Lakers but the cost to the Lakers would be too great. Pelicans are asking for some of the lakers young guns along with the first-round draft picks to trade for AD. Davis has already stated that he will not be resigning with the Pelicans and become a free agent if not traded.
I say the Lakers should hold out if they want to sign AD. There is no reason to trade key pieces midseason to pick up AD. Lakers don't have a good chance at contending for the title this year. There are some top tier free agents that will be available with AD as well that can put the Lakers in a real contenders spot. Another KEY factor I want to point out is Kyrie Irving reaching out to Lebron to apologizes. This is big, Kyrie is realizing its tough to win alone and the Celtics have looked worse since he and Gordon Hayward have been back. You also have a good chance Carmelo Anthony will be joining the Lakers as well.
Just to Vent:
One issue I have with the Lebron James super teams is that wherever they go they restructure the team and end up booting out key players that have served the organization well for a chance to win a championship. If the cast does not fit the superstars the keep trying to make moves until they find a unit that works. After Lebron or whatever superstars decide to leave, they leave that organization in a terrible position with subpar players and a feel of no loyalty. YES, the warriors now have a super team, but they built their championship off a few trades and the players they more or less drafted. They have worked hard to get to we they are and they happened to have others NOW want to join them. If Superstars decide to go to a team that already needs to be restructured then that makes more sense to me. AGAIN I am just venting so agree with me or disagree it makes no difference.
The next step is to watch GM Lebron go to work and start moving players around ( while under investigation). Personally, If AD ends up a Laker I wouldn't be mad. It should make for better matchups and give the Warriors more of a challenge. I would like to see playoffs restructured to the TOP 16 regardless of the conference since the East has been pretty weak compared the West. I am a sports fan and I get all about exciting games, especially during playoff times. What every the NBA can do to make it FUN to watch again I would greatly appreciate.
