So I wrote a blog about this around a month ago about how the Oakland Raiders were in the midst of a legal battle with the city of Oakland about them leaving the city for Las Vegas in 2020. This has resulted in the Raiders being stadium-less for the 2019 NFL season. The options that were originally floated were the Raiders playing in San Diego at the old Chargers stadium, at Levi’s Stadium which is the San Francisco 49ers stadium (granted it’s in San Jose and not San Fran), at the San Francisco Giants stadium which is obviously a baseball stadium, or even moving to London for a year and playing at Tottenham’s new stadium.

Well on Sunday it was announced that the Oakland Raiders(only get to write that for another year) had finally found a home..... or so they thought. It was announced that the Raiders had struck a deal with the San Francisco Giants and Oracle Park(when in the hell did it change from AT&T Park) but that this deal was pending NFL and 49ers approval since the 49ers hold the territorial rights to the San Francisco area. Well low and behold the San Francisco 49ers came out and said that they would not waive the rights to allow the Raiders to play in San Francisco at Oracle Park. Now it doesn’t sound like the 49ers are dismissing the idea of the Raiders playing at their home stadium this season, just that they will not allow the Raiders to play at the Giants stadium. I’m sure the reason behind this is the revenue that would have to be split with the 49ers if they let them share Levi’s stadium. So with just 6 months until preseason begins, the Raiders still have no home. Again, I’m begging that they end up playing in a London, I just don’t think we’ll get lucky enough for that to happen. San Diego also makes a lot of since with a stadium just sitting there empty. But, in the end I feel like the Raiders will either make amends with Oakland for one last season or split Levi’s stadium with the 49ers. And that sucks because those 2 outcomes are definitely the dullest as far as entertainment.
