Have A Day Cristiano Ronaldo

If you read my blog that I just posted about Zidane’s return to Real Madrid, I talked about how much their current squad misses Cristiano Ronaldo. So here’s just an update on what he’s still doing in European football. Juventus were matched up against Atletico Madrid in the R16 of the Champions League, which is a great match-up between 2 teams that could both win the competition. In the first leg in Madrid, Juventus lost 0-2 and that put themselves in huge hole especially considering they weren’t able to grab an away goal. Juventus now needed at least a 2-0 win to force extra time or a 3-0 win to win outright. Well Ronaldo got things started off early for Juventus.

Mr. Champions League is right. The man simply owns the Champions League. He’s won 4 out of the last 5 titles and has scored scored a mind blowing 70 goals in 61 games in those 5 seasons. 70 goals in 61 games against the best teams that Europe, the world for that matter has to offer. 1 goal down for Juventus and at least 1 more to go.

And there’s number 2. Game on now. Another goal for Juventus and they are through to the quarterfinal but a goal for Atletico, and Juventus is going to need 2 more goals to advance due to away goals.

And then top it off in the 86th minute, to complete the hat-trick and push Juventus through to the next round. Cristiano is simply incredible and is proving that at 34, he can still get it done on the biggest stage. I mean seriously how long can he go on like this for? He’s got 24 goals in 36 games this year which is down from his usual of a goal per game but still one of the best scoring records in Europe. What’s to stop him from being the Tom Brady of soccer and playing into his last 30’s(late 30s in soccer would be the equivalent of an over 40 QB I believe). Juventus clear a huge hurdle and are on to the quarterfinals thanks to the one and only. Real Madrid sure could have used some of those goals against Ajax.
