Song of the Day: 25 or 6 to 4

Today’s Song of the Day was recorded in 1969, but wasn’t released until June of 1970. It was on the rock group, Chicago’s, second album , but it was their first of many self-titled albums. An interesting fact about Chicago was that their original name was Chicago Transit Authority, which was also the title of their first album. The meaning of “25 or 6 to 4”, was a mystery to the public until the writer of the song and Chicago band member, Robert Lamm, claimed that the song was about the difficulty of writing a song at night. Many people thought that the song was about drug use, and was banned in countries like Singapore for quite a while. The reason that I picked this song is because my favorite show is King of the Hill and in a Season 11 episode, recurring character, Lucky Kleinschmidt, which happens to be voiced by the late, great Tom Petty, names this song as one of his favorites.
