3 Things to Do in Charlotte This Weekend
In this series I highlight three things to do for the people in the Charlotte, NC area and anyone who may be visiting our awesome city this weekend. Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in America with plenty to offer everyone. So, let’s take a look at three things you can do this weekend (Friday, January 24th through Sunday, January 26th):
1. Queen’s Feast (All Weekend)
This one is for all the foodies out there. Beginning last Friday and continuing through this Sunday is Charlotte Restaurant Week. More than 140 of the top restaurants around the Charlotte-metro area are offering 3+ course dinners for just $30 or $35 per person. The participating times are from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. from now through Sunday. To find out which restaurants are participating, click on the link below and click on the “restaurants” tab. You don’t need tickets, but reservations are strongly encouraged to this popular event. So, if you want to eat a very fancy dinner for a once a year price, take advantage of Queen’s Feast this weekend.

2. Chinese New Year’s Festival (Saturday)
Happy New Year! Happy Chinese New Year, that is. Come to Peaceful Dragon (12610 Steele Creek Rd. Charlotte, NC 28273) this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This is the year of the rat, so bring your family and join in the festival’s many activities including the ceremonial lion and dragon dances, Chinese martial arts, yoga, Chinese dance and music, experts demonstrating various Asian arts and cultural practices, game rooms, raffle drawings, and door prizes. Admission is just $5 per family, or totally free with a donation of a non-perishable food item for Loaves and Fishes charity.

3. Pups and Pints Pageant (Friday)
This one is geared towards dog owners and dog lovers. On Friday from 7-10 p.m., Birdsong Brewing Company is hosting the first Pups and Pints Pageant. There will be a pup parade beginning at 7:45, and prizes will be awarded to the dogs for “best trick” and “best dressed.” Also, every dog will receive a goody bag just for participating in the event. If you are interested in entering your dog in the pageant, make sure to be there between 7-7:30 p.m. for registration. This event is free for everyone and the first 20 people to walk through the doors with their dog will receive a free beer. It will be a very fun night for dog lovers, so come on out to Birdsong Brewing Co., located at 1016 N. Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28206.
