In this series I highlight three things to do for the people in the Charlotte, NC area and anyone who may be visiting our awesome city this weekend.  Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in America with plenty to offer everyone.  So, let’s take a look at three things you can do this weekend (Friday, January 31st through Sunday, February 2nd):

1. Grand Opening of Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit (Friday)

South End in Charlotte is getting a new restaurant and it is opening its doors for the first time this Friday at 10 a.m.  Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, a branch of the popular Charleston’s “Callie’s Charleston Biscuits” will be serving its delicious biscuits, as well as other southern staples, to members of the Charlotte community.  All biscuits are hand-made and those who visit on opening day can try one out for free.  Items on their menu include bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits, BLT biscuits, sausage gravy biscuits, pimento cheese biscuits, sweet/desert biscuits, grits, country ham, scrambled eggs, bacon, coffee, and juice.  You can also build your own biscuit.  Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit is located at 327 W. Tremont Ave, Suite B, Charlotte, NC 28203.

It’s that time of year to welcome new inductees to the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which is located right in downtown Charlotte at 400 East M.L.K. Jr. Blvd.  Fans will have the opportunity to soak in many cool events taking place here all weekend long, starting with the Class of 2019 Induction Insiders Experience from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.  Friday and Saturday have loaded schedules that include a Hall of Famer Brunch and the 2020 Induction Ceremony (with dinner) on Friday, and Class of 2020 storytelling and tribute on Saturday.  It’s a weekend that NASCAR fans don’t want to miss!

3. Queen City Brewers Festival (Saturday)

The Park Expo (800 Briar Creek Rd.) will be hosting the 9th annual Queen City Brewer’s Festival this Saturday where everyone can enjoy locally-produced craft beer and cider, along with food sampling from various restaurants.  More than 50 breweries will be showcasing their beer, so the two taste sessions (noon-3:30 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.) will provide everyone with plenty to choose from.  Tickets are $50 and will cover the two taste sessions of beer, cider, coffee, Kombucha, food, along with interactive exhibits and a “Best of Show” presentation.  Proceeds from the event will go to ACEing Autism-Charlotte.
