WWE Power Rankings: Week of November 15th 2020
We are less than a week away from Survivor Series and things are heating up. This year’s event will only host RAW and SmackDown unlike last year. It is still going to be an interesting event and this week should provide a lot of inter promotion animosity on the TV programs. SmackDown probably had the best show of the week, but I guess everyone has their own opinion. Here are my rankings for last week and look for the Survivor Series prediction article this Sunday.
10: Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan qualified for Team SmackDown on Friday. She defeated Natalya, Tamina and Chelsea Green to earn her place on the Survivor Series roster. There are a lot of Liv Morgan fans out there and I know they were excited to see her get the win, but Chelsea Green’s SmackDown debut unfortunately didn’t go as planned. She broke her wrist and she will be out of action for a little while.
9: Santos Escobar
Escobar successfully defended the Cruiserweight Championship on Wednesday against Jake Atlas. The match was fine, but nothing outstanding. I don’t know when we will see that matchup between Devlin and Escobar, because it is a matter of travel restrictions rather than booking the match to happen. We’ll see in the near future what happens here.
8: Otis
Otis picked up a nice win against Dolph Ziggler this week and maybe this is a sign that he won’t fade into irrelevancy. I’m a fan of Otis and I really wanted to see him take a crack at a major belt, but clearly that was never the plan. There were a lot of things that they could’ve done with his booking, but chose not to. It appears that he may be forming an alliance with Chad Gable, which may be interesting.
7: Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan
The NXT tag champs retained their belts with a little help from Pat McAfee. This reign feels like it is more about McAfee in my opinion, but that can be a good thing moving forward. His ability to capture the attention of fans is what NXT is all about and McAfee is a great addition to the yellow brand. Not to mention the fact that Burch and Lorcan are solid wrestlers. I still don’t really know what Pete Dunne’s role in the group entails, but I have been a fan of his for quite a while, so hopefully he can jump back in soon.
6: Bobby Lashley
Lashley looked like his dominant self on Monday night and he defended his US title successfully. Titus O’Neill was his latest victim and while the victory is pretty much meaningless at this point, Lashley proved that he will be a force on Sunday against Sami Zayn.
5: Roman Reigns
Roman makes SmackDown the must watch WWE show every week. He didn’t have a match this week, but he didn’t have to have a match to make an impact and he did just that. Roman is going to Survivor Series in the presumptive main event, but they gave us reason to believe that his opponent may not be settled until Sunday on SmackDown this week.
4: Sami Zayn
Zayn retained his title against Apollo Crews and he won by using his outside-of-the-box thinking. Crews was caught underneath the ring and Zayn manage to walk away with the IC title. Zayn tied Apollo’s foot to the reinforce part of the ring and Crews was counted out. I don’t think his matchup with Lashley will be similar, but it should be interesting to see what happens.
3: Leon Ruff
The WWE proved that they’re still capable of pulling out some shocking moments at any given time. Leon Ruff has only been in a handful of televised matches in the WWE and he captured his first win this week. It also turns out that he won the North American Championship in his first win, which is shocking to say the least. Gargano is probably still dumbfounded from Wednesday night. The match wasn’t particularly great, but the moment was one that will be memorable for quite some time.
2: Rey Mysterio
Mysterio and Rollins closed the book on a long feud and it was the perfect time to wrap things up. The match was really good and it was a great way to end it all. I don’t know what is next for both competitors, but it appears that we could see an alliance forming between the Mysterios and Murphy. Mysterio walking out the winner of the feud was the right thing to do and this hurts Rollins in no way, shape, or form.
1: Drew McIntyre
The former WWE Champion pulled double duty this week, which earned him the number one spot. If you think losing the title hurt Drew McIntyre, think again. He was money this week and he will have a rematch for his lost belt tonight on RAW. On Friday, they gave us reason to believe that it will be McIntyre vs. Reigns at Survivor Series this Sunday and I hope that is the case. Orton’s reign doesn’t have to be a long one to be effective and RAW is definitely must-watch tonight.
