TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs (2020) Results and Reaction
TLC was a couple nights ago and I feel like they left the 2020 year on a good note as far as PPV events are concerned. You could say the ending was a real Firestarter. To be honest though, each match was really good. I was expecting just a normal PPV, but it turned out to be pretty decent. In the next couple weeks, I have a lot of year-end and new year wrestling stuff planned so be on the lookout for that, but in the meantime, here are the results to Sunday night’s show and my reaction to it all.
- Men’s 8-Man Tag Team Match
Big E, Daniel Bryan, Chad Gable and Otis over King Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro and Sami Zayn
It is a shame that these guys are working in the kickoff show, but nevertheless, it was a solid match. The goal in this contest was to show that Big E could be seen as your next Intercontinental Champion in the near future. Big E was an absolute star in the match and the match between he and Sami Zayn on Christmas Day should be a good one. Considering this was a short pre-show matchup, it was really good.

- Men’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs Triple Threat Match: WWE Championship
Drew McIntyre (C) over AJ Styles and The Miz *MATCH OF THE NIGHT*
It was a nice surprise to see The Miz attempt to cash in the briefcase a couple nights ago. He didn’t walk out as champion, but the match was incredible. To call this match of the night isn’t a dig at all on the rest of the show, but in my mind, I liked it because we didn’t expect to see The Miz cashing in. It didn’t feel like he had a real shot at grabbing the title, but they did everything in their power to make us believe he had a definite chance or at least led us to believe that there would be a different champion. I’m interested to see what is next for all of these guys involved in the match, but it looks like we may see McIntyre battling Sheamus in the near future.

- Women’s Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks (C) over Carmella
I wasn’t expecting a lengthy bout here and it really wasn’t, but it was the perfect amount for these two ladies to tell the story. Carmella looked great especially considering her last singles PPV match was nearly 2 and a half years ago. I don’t think the feud will continue, because Carmella lost cleanly by submission, but I don’t think it would be a terrible idea to give her another shot at the title. It looks like Sasha Banks is going to be at the top of the Women’s food chain for the next little bit, so don’t expect anything different. The match here was solid, it really felt like Carmella had a shot to take the title, but it would have been shocking to say the least.

- Men’s Tag Team Match: RAW Tag Team Championship
Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin over The New Day (C)
This was a nice change to the tag team division. I really am liking the reemergence of Cedric Alexander. He is performing like a totally different person than he has in the last couple of years. I don’t know how long this reign will last, but a title win over a team like Kofi and Woods is a very big deal. The Hurt Business is the biggest group in the WWE other than possibly the Undisputed Era, if you consider them, and it looks like they will be a big deal in 2021. Personally, I think Bobby Lashley could hold the title for a very long time and the team just seems like a solid unit. I am interested to see what happens with them in the near future.

- Women’s Tag Team Match: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Asuka and Charlotte Flair over Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (C)
Charlotte is back and it didn’t take her very long to regain gold in her return. Charlotte and Asuka could be a great team moving forward, but I’m not really expecting it to last. The match here wasn’t awesome, but it was a good enough filler and a good spotlight for Charlotte’s return. It was time for Jax and Baszler to drop the titles, but it looks like they could still be a team moving forward. For now, Asuka and Charlotte Flair will maintain the top spots at the women’s division until they’re knocked off the top.

- Men’s Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match: Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (with Paul Heyman) (C) over Kevin Owens
I debated making this match of the night, but I personally just liked the WWE Championship Triple Threat a little more. That isn’t a knock on this match though, it was great. Roman and KO will have a rematch on SmackDown this week because of the interference of Jey Uso on Sunday, but that match will take place in a steel cage. I knew that Owens didn’t have a real shot at a win here, but it was a great contest.

- Firefly Inferno Match
Randy Orton over “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
I didn’t know exactly what to expect here and that is what made the match even more interesting. I predicted Wyatt to win as did a lot of people, but watching it all unfold, it just makes you realize how many layers there are to Wyatt’s character. I said that it didn’t really make sense for him to lose, but I think I was wrong. Orton winning this match and potentially only shedding the first layer of The Fiend is an interesting twist for The Fiend to come back stronger than ever. Also, this was one of the most visually engaging matches I have ever seen. I won’t give it match of the night, but it was great and I think it is one that has a ton of rewatch value for years to come.
