Malik Monk Suspended Indefinitely
Charlotte Hornets guard Malik Monk suspended indefinitely for violating the league’s anti-drug policy. This comes as a blow to the 22 year old former Kentucky star as he has had a solid season so far. Monk has averaged 10.3 points per game over 55 game, and has shown his ability to play consistently in the league after a few stints with the G-League during his 3 year career.
J. Scott’s Thoughts:
This is tough hit to his career as a professional athlete and his personal character. Monk was a favorite by many Hornets fans and it was because of his style of play. As a solid defender, more than capable shooter and all-around athlete he was on his way to making a mark in the NBA. Now all that has been derailed for who knows how long due to bad choices. I may not agree with all the league rules and policies, but that is no reason to break them and let millions of fans down. It always baffles me when athletes violate these policies and end up losing out on large amounts of money while tarnishing their character. As a young player I hope he has learned a valuable lesson and is able to come back from suspension and play at the same level.
