AEW Revolution Predictions
We’re finally here! AEW PPV time is tonight and I’m excited to see all of the action unfold. After a bad WWE PPV, I’m glad we’re going to finally get a chance to see some good wrestling and good storylines in action. A few of these matches were announced within the week, but I don’t think that is an issue. Cody Rhodes mentioned that Revolution could be AEW’s version of WrestleMania and I hope that it lives up to that. Here are my predictions for the show.
*Predicted winners are bolded
*Match card is likely not in the exact order
- Men’s Tag Team Match
SoCal Uncensored vs. The Dark Order
This match is going to be in the pre-show and it should be interesting to see how this one plays out. AEW fans are anxious to find out who “The Exalted One” is and we may finally find this out. When The Dark Order was presented, I didn’t buy in to what they were doing, mainly because I didn’t understand what their gimmick was. They have garnered a lot of interest in the last few weeks and beating a team like SCU could give them a great rebirth. I really hope “The Exalted One” is Matt Hardy. Matt Hardy is on the back end of his career, but he has a lot to offer to the world of wrestling and him signing with AEW would be awesome. His WWE contract is through March 1st, so it doesn’t look like he will appear at Revolution, but I’m not ruling out that he is “The Exalted One”.
- Men’s Singles Match
Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara
I think this match will kick off the main portion of the show and it should be an exciting matchup. Guevara and Allin are proven competitors and I’m interested to see these two put on a good performance. The momentum is definitely in Darby Allin’s favor, but I honestly think it could go either way. The Inner Circle vs. the rest of AEW is the underlying angle of the PPV and this match could be the tone setter for not only the rest of the show, but in particular, the AEW World title match.
- Men’s Singles Match
Dustin Rhodes vs. Jake Hager
We are finally going to see Jake Hager in an AEW match tonight and I can’t wait. I’m mostly interested to see if his wrestling style has changed since the last time that I saw him. His last WWE match was in January of 2017, but he wrestled for MLW and other promotions almost immediately. His last wrestling match was in November of 2018, so we could see a little rust, but I expect him to be in tip-top shape. I can’t see Hager losing this match, because it appears to be all about him. Dustin Rhodes is just the guy to put him over, because he literally has nothing to lose. It should be a fun matchup between two veterans in the wrestling business.
- Men’s Singles Match
Pac vs. Orange Cassidy
As much as I would love to see Orange Cassidy pull out a win here, I just don’t think it will happen. Orange Cassidy and Pac are near polar opposites as far as their personalities are concerned, so it should be a very entertaining matchup. Cassidy will get to showcase his legitimate wrestling skills against a very formidable opponent tonight and the fact that this was a spur of the moment match makes it that much more interesting. I can’t pretend to know what could possibly go on in this contest, so I’m just going to enjoy it.
- Men’s Singles Match
Cody (w/Arn Anderson) vs. MJF (w/Wardlow)
This match definitely has the richest storyline on the card and it should be an awesome showing from these two. Cody’s injury status has to be a concern here, but if he can go, I have no doubt that the match will be awesome. This will be an awesome opportunity for MJF, who has only competed in 4 singles matches since the start of AEW. The odds are actually in slight favor of MJF at -180 at the moment, which I think is a little surprising. I don’t think either competitor will be hurt by a loss here, so I consider this as close to a toss-up as you can get.
- Women’s Singles Match: AEW Women’s World Championship
Nyla Rose (C) vs. Kris Statlander
Nyla Rose has only held the title 17 days, so I don’t think a title change will occur tonight. Kris Statlander has quickly become one of the stars of the women’s division and I wouldn’t rule out a title reign in her near future, but I just don’t think it will happen this soon. It is clear that the women’s division has been the weakest link in what has been a strong showing from AEW, so a great match between Rose and Statlander could provide the perfect amount of momentum moving forward.
- Men’s Tag Team Match: AEW World Tag Team Championship
Kenny Omega and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page (C) vs. The Young Bucks
This seems like a predictable title change here, but what happens after the match is going to be interesting. Two halves of The Elite are facing each other, so something will surely go awry. As of today, The Young Bucks are favored at -250 and they will look to become the third team to win the belts. After the 30-minute Ironman match on Dynamite this week, I’m not entirely sure if that was to signify the end of Pac and Omega’s feud, but I think we’ll be in line for a Page/Omega matchup at Double or Nothing 2.0 in May.
- Men’s Singles Match: AEW World Championship
Chris Jericho (C) vs. Jon Moxley
Here we have the most anticipated match on the card and I think we finally get the title change. Moxley is more than ready to hold the title, but what Jericho has done for this title could never be replicated. Jericho has held the title for 5 full months and I think it is time for him to drop it. The match, like many others on the card, could go either way, but Moxley winning makes sense. The build for the main event has been tremendous and I like the fact that they’ve been promoting this like a fight, rather than a wrestling match. It gives the feud a unique feel. While it wouldn’t shock me to see Jericho retain, I don’t think it will happen tonight. Moxley is currently favored at -140. You can probably expect to see some interference from The Inner Circle, but will they impact the result of the match? I guess we’ll find out tonight.
