WrestleMania 37 Night One Predictions
WrestleMania is finally here. WrestleMania doesn’t seem as hyped as it normally is, but nevertheless, it is always a great time for wrestling fans and fans of good entertainment. If you would like to join us by filling out a Sports Chief Official WrestleMania 37 Scorecard, here is the link for that. Those are always a lot of fun to fill out, but enough talk of that. WrestleMania is always a time in which big moments are made. This is the one show each year that performers want to be in and make an impact. Despite possibly being one of the least hyped WrestleMania shows of all time, I feel confident that they will make it worth our while. The two-night event kicks off tonight and I’m anxious to get it started. Here are my predictions for Night One.
*Match Card is likely not in Exact Order
*Predicted Winners are bolded
- Women’s Tag Team Turmoil Match: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship
Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose vs. Lana and Naomi vs. The Riott Squad vs. Natalya and Tamina vs. Billie Kay and Carmella
Lana and Naomi are the current favorites at +110 in this contest, but to be honest, any of these teams could win this match. Lana and Naomi winning makes the most sense due to the fact that they can continue the feud of Lana and the tag champs, but is that enough to solidify them a victory? Not really. If they don’t win the matchup, my next bet will be Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott of the Riott Squad. They have +550 odds and I wouldn’t be a bit scared to put down a little money on them winning. It appears that Billie Kay will be added to the match with Carmella. I really hate that they couldn’t cook up an IIconics reunion, but that would make too much sense. The winner moves on to Night Two to face Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler for the belts, but it’s really a toss-up here.
- Men’s Tag Team Match: RAW Tag Team Championship
The New Day (C) vs. AJ Styles and Omos
It will be very interesting to see what Omos can do in the ring. It will be his first official match on the main roster and he has only had a handful, literally, of matches in NXT. Obviously, AJ Styles will carry the match, but it will be interesting to see the big man do some work in the ring. Styles and Omos are actually decent favorites at -270. Every WrestleMania, we see some successful title defenses and sometimes we see new champions crowned, unless it’s WrestleMania 35 and there are all new champions crowned. Nevertheless, I am expecting some successful title defenses at WrestleMania 37 and I think this will be a successful one. Granted The New Day has had a million title reigns and losing here definitely will not hurt them, however, I can’t see them giving Omos a belt in his first match, especially considering the fact that he is debuting at WrestleMania of all places.
- Men’s Singles Match
Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro
I really like this feud for Cesaro. It has been interesting and if he can’t have a title run, having a feud with Seth Rollins is pretty serious. Rollins’s career speaks for itself and his WrestleMania track record speaks for itself, so Cesaro could capitalize on a big opportunity tonight. Cesaro is a -300 favorite in the contest and I think he will win, but don’t be shocked if Rollins squeaks out a win here. I don’t think Rollins will win, but this could be just the thing for him to start a feud with whoever walks out of WrestleMania as the Universal Champion. This would be Cesaro’s biggest career singles win and hopefully that will be the case, because I think I speak for a lot of fans when I say that his “push” is long overdue.
- Men’s Tag Team Match
The Miz and John Morrison vs. Bad Bunny and Damian Priest
Obviously, the big attraction here will be watching Bad Bunny compete in the ring, but this will be a chance for Damian Priest to make a name for himself. Bunny and Priest are huge favorites at -1000, which happens to be the highest odds on the card for Night One. The Miz and Morrison have nothing to lose by taking a loss other than a negative notch in their win/loss record, so that is the main reason why I think Bunny and Priest will win here. This isn’t for a title and that means there isn’t any pressure from fans that would despise the fact that Bad Bunny could potentially win a legitimate title in his debut at WrestleMania. This is definitely where they can get creative on the entertainment side of things and really create a memorable moment.
- Steel Cage Match
Braun Strowman vs. Shane McMahon
This will be Shane McMahon’s first match in 18 months and it will be in the confines of a steel cage containing the monster that Braun Strowman is. I think my knee-jerk reaction is that Strowman will win, but It is very possible that he could lose. There is a possibility that Shane climbs out of the cage and picks up a victory though. Strowman is a -350 favorite, but to be honest, if you feel that there’s a slight chance that Shane could win, don’t be afraid to pull the trigger on his +225 underdog status. I have to say this is probably the match that I am least interested in watching on Night One, due to the fact that the buildup was so poor. The angle was literally Shane McMahon saying that Braun Strowman is big and stupid. What kind of angle is that? Hopefully this could be a fun match though, but sometimes, I just wonder how they can screw up Braun Strowman storylines so often.
- Women’s Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks (C) vs. Bianca Belair
It was pretty obvious that Bianca Belair was going to face Sasha Banks after her Rumble victory and I think she will ultimately take down The Boss. In my 2021 Predictions article, I said that Belair wouldn’t win a belt this year, but as I’m seeing it all unfold, I don’t think she walks out of WrestleMania empty-handed. With all of that being said though, I am almost completely disinterested in this match. On paper, it is a great matchup, but I absolutely hate the way that they have built it up. When Belair won the Rumble, it didn’t take her long to decide Banks. After that, they teamed up for a long time. They haven’t been in any physical altercations, their promos feel like it is literally the same thing each week, and despite being two different performers in the ring, it feels like they literally have the same gimmick. The fact that this is going to be the main event is a joke to be honest. It should be a good match, but they didn’t build it up like the Women’s Triple Threat Main Event at WrestleMania 35. Belair is a -350 favorite.
- Men’s Singles Match: WWE Championship
Bobby Lashley (C) vs. Drew McIntyre
This match has the closest odds on the card in Night One and I’m honestly a little surprised to see that McIntyre is favored. McIntyre definitely can win at any given moment, but I think Lashley wins so he can have a legitimate run with the belt. It wouldn’t shock me to see another title change, but I think that McIntyre had two really good runs with the WWE Championship this year and he can win anytime afterwards, but how often are you going to get an opportunity to continue to push Bobby Lashley as a main event player? Not as often, that’s for sure. They should capitalize on what they have at the moment and Lashley with the gold has more opportunities than McIntyre, who is seemingly running out of opponents to defend against. McIntyre is one of my favorites right now, but I think he loses tonight.
