For the first time since 2019, there will be racing at Bowman Gray Stadium this Saturday night.  Fans and drivers alike have been itching to get back to “The Stadium” ever since last season was completely canceled due to Covid, and the start of this season was delayed.  You can guarantee the race track nicknamed “The Madhouse” will be packed to the brink this Saturday, with its capacity at 17,000.

When the drivers get the green flag Saturday night, it will mark the 72nd season of racing at Bowman Gray Stadium.  There’s no denying it’s one of the more historic tracks owned by NASCAR.  Richard Petty, Junior Johnson, and David Pearson have all raced here, and Richard Childress even worked the concession stands here before saving enough money to purchase a car to race at the track.

Aside from the burning enthusiasm stemming from not racing in nearly two years, fans this season will have a storyline to keep up with all year long, as Tim Brown and Burt Myers both seek to become driver with the most track championships in Bowman Gray history.  Currently both drivers stand at ten apiece.

Though the modified race is the main event, there are other races every Saturday night as well.  Stadium Stock, Street Stock, and the Sportsman series will all run, with the first race starting at 8:00 p.m.  Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.  You may want to get there earlier than normal, though, because of this being the first race in so long.  And if you’ve never been, I HIGHLY recommend it.  It will be $12 well spent.
