AEW Power Rankings: Week of August 21st 2021
When we look back 20 years from now, this weekend could possibly go down as the biggest wrestling weekend of this era. SummerSlam was a huge success, but in the AEW realm, arguably the biggest star of the last 15 years announced his return to wrestling. CM Punk is back and it is complete and utter chaos in AEW in the best way imaginable. Having Punk on the roster will be a tremendous help to the younger talent and I watched Rampage on Friday night and I still can’t believe that he is back. I really don’t think there is a question as to who is number one this week in my rankings, but spoiler alert, it was the hometown kid. Whatever happened this week, Punk’s return was definitely going to overshadow everything else and it did, but it wasn't all lost. There was a lot of great action this week. Another great moment was Jericho coming out to no music and the fans singing his way to the ring. That was incredible. I’m am stoked for All Out, but we have a couple weeks between then and now, so here are the rankings for last week’s action.
5: Sammy Guevara
4: Darby Allin and Sting
3: The Young Bucks
2: MJF
1: CM Punk
