Song of the Day: Money

Money by Pink Floyd. One of the band’s more recognized tunes, Money was actually the band’s first big hit in the US. Released in 1973 on the band’s Dark Side of the Moon album, also known as the greatest album of all time. While the song didn’t top the charts, it still hit #10 in the US and seemed to open the floodgate for the rest of what was to come from Pink Floyd in the 70s. Money is a song that is unique in multiple ways, as it featured an unusual 7-4 time signature and also has plenty of “money” sounds effects. For the song they used recordings of a cash register and actual coins for the sound effects that featured throughout the song.
