Song of the Day: Way of the Triune God
Happy Friday everyone! Last week, Tyler Childers released his newest album, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven and I have to say, I am very impressed. It is called a triple album because he has 3 versions of each of the songs (Hallelujah, Jubilee and Joyful Noise) which all have distinct rhythm to them, the Joyful Noise version of this one even has Andy Griffith in it. I have been a fan of Tyler’s for a while and he has honestly been really quiet for the past couple of years. You cannot say that this man hides his upbringing or what he is about, he puts it out on display. These songs definitely have a “red-backed hymnal” or Freewill Baptist type feel, mixed in with some saloon style country and I don’t know…maybe some rock too. I would be excited to see if Tyler comes to the Carolinas soon, because I’d love to hear these songs live. His interview about making the album is on the hyperlink above on Whiskey Riff. I grew up Southern Baptist and while it wasn’t Freewill or Pentecostal at all…or Appalachian for that matter, it was pretty country and very musical, I love what Tyler does with this album…especially this version of “Way of the Truine God”. Check out the rest of the album and I hope you enjoy some Tyler Childers on this beautiful Fall day!
