Song of the Day: Mockingbird

Mock… YEAH… ing… YEAH… bird… YEAH… yeah… YEAH! Happy Sunday everybody. I hope this song will get you moving on a Sunday morning. Originally released in 1963, Greensboro, NC duo Inez and Charlie Foxx wrote and originally performed this catchy tune. If you think you have heard it before, the movie Dumb & Dumber had a bit where they performed a version of it. The Foxx siblings took this song to number 7 on the pop charts and number 2 on the R&B charts. There are other versions of the song as well, but the other version that had the most success was from Carly Simon and James Taylor. They took the song to number 5 on the pop charts in 1974. I’ll also include Simon and Taylor’s version as well as the Dumb & Dumber scene.
