Song of the Day: Black Muddy River
Black Muddy River by The Grateful Dead. Released in July of 1987 on the band’s 12th studio album In The Dark. The album was the first studio album by the band in seven years and was unexpectedly successful on the music charts. Despite the Grateful Dead being enormously successful, they achieved all this without much radio time at all. In The Dark hit number 6 on the US charts and was the band’s only top 10 album. Much of this was due to the success of the song Touch of Grey which hit number 9 on the US charts and was the Grateful Dead’s only top 40 hit. Only 1 top 10 album and 1 top 40 song and despite all that, the Grateful Dead are one of the biggest and most successful bands in history. It’s all about the live music baby!
