WWE Backlash (2023) Predictions
I’ll make this article short and sweet. I haven’t been watching a lot of WWE recently, but I have been keeping up with it a little bit. They will be live tonight in Puerto Rico for tonight’s show and it is cool to see the WWE venturing out a little bit. Bad Bunny is the host of the show and he will be in a big match against Damian Priest. That should be interesting. Three championship will be on the line and there are currently 7 matches on the total card. It should be a good show. Let’s dive in.
*Predicted winners are bolded
- Men’s Singles Match
Seth Rollins vs. Omos
This feud popped out of nowhere, but it appears that they’re going to try to give Rollins a big win before the new championship tournament. There aren't odds for the first winner of the redesigned big gold belt, but if I have to make a guess, Seth Rollins probably has the highest odds. It wouldn't make sense for him to lose to Omos, but to be fair, it doesn’t make sense for Omos to keep losing. We’ll see what happens, but I think it is Rollins’ match to lose
- Six-Man Tag Team Match
Kevin Owens, Matt Riddle and Sami Zayn vs. The Bloodline
The team of KO, Sami, and Riddle are currently favored, but I don’t think they will win. The Bloodline is still strong, and they should pick up the win here. Also, I don’t have a clue how Riddle fits into this equation.
- Women’s Singles Match: RAW Women’s Championship
Bianca Belair (C) vs. Iyo Sky
This match has potential to steal the show. These are two of the most talented women in the WWE and I think they will have a tremendous match. With that being said, Belair isn't going to lose the belt.
- Women’s Singles Match: SmackDown Women’s Championship
Rhea Ripley (C) vs. Zelina Vega
It’s cool to see Zelina Vega in the title picture and the return of the LWO has been cool as well, but there’s no chance Rhea Ripley is dropping the belt this soon. I don’t know why Zelina hasn’t been in many matches since her arrival, but she can go in the ring. It should be a solid match.
- Men’s Triple Threat Match: United States Championship
Austin Theory (C) vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Bronson Reed
This is the match that I was the most torn on. Theory is favored, and I think he will retain, but every WWE fan knows how tricky it is to predict the US Championship or IC title. Since Triple H has been head of creative, there has been more prestige to the belt, so I think longer reigns will be common with the minor belt title pictures. I don’t think Lashley will win, so I think it will either be a successful retain or Bronson Reed becoming the new champ.
- San Juan Street Fight
Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest
Nothing but bragging rights at stake here, but I think Bad Bunny will win. A lot can happen in a match like this, but it should be very entertaining. The crowd will be upset if Bad Bunny loses though. Bunny is currently the -500 favorite.
- Men’s Singles Match
Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes
I think this will be the main event, but who knows. Cody has to go through his “hard times” to get to the championship and he can’t finish the story without going through Brock Lesnar. This will be a brutal test for Rhodes, but I think he will win the match. Cody is slightly favored.
