Song of the Day: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

I’m featuring a Gordon Lightfoot song today. He passed away earlier this week and I have been listening to some of his music throughout the week. We have featured a couple of his songs in the past, but never this one. It was one of his most popular hits. This song reached number 2 on the US Billboard charts and obviously, number 1 in Canada. He was a Canadian music icon and I wanted to remember him for my song selection. This song was released in 1976 and it based on a true story of an American freight ship, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald that sunk in Lake Superior. 29 men lost their lives that day. I’ll attach a short documentary video below explaining it if you’re interested. RIP to the Canadian legend, Gordon Lightfoot.
