NFL Top 10 Power Ranking (After Week 1)
10. Los Angeles Chargers (0-1)
The Chargers may have dropped their season opener, but they were in a shootout with a dangerous Miami team. Some of you may not like them being on here, but if a few little things go differently in that game and they win, none of you would argue with it.
9. New England Patriots (0-1)
Another team that lost their first game, the Patriots made a great game with one of NFL’s best teams in the Eagles. It started slowly, but they bounced back and came one foot away from extending a late-game drive to potentially win the ball game.
8. New York Jets (1-0)
With the loss of Aaron Rodgers, the Jets are a little tough to rank right now. But even without Rodgers for the whole game, the Jets took care of business against a good Bills team. Their defense should win them a lot of games this season.
7. Detroit Lions (1-0)
I wanted to rank them a little bit higher, but I’m going to give it some more time. Still, the Lions went into Kansas City on opening night of the NFL season and took down the defending champs. I don’t care one bit that Kelce was out. That was a statement win.
6. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)
The Jaguars are overlooked by many because they’ve had so many bad years. Last season’s team was a second round playoff team and should be even better this year, especially with Lawrence continuing to grow and Calvin Ridley to throw the ball to. Ridley looked great on Sunday.
5. Kansas City Chiefs (0-1)
Sure, they lossed…but they are still the Chiefs and still the defending champs. Missing Kelce really hurt them against Detroit, but he will be back and so will the Chiefs.
4. Miami Dolphins (1-0)
As you saw with their matchup against the Chargers, the Dolphins can score, and can score in a hurry. Their offense will be a force to be reckoned with all year long and if their defense can stop teams, they will can be a Super Bowl contender.
3. Dallas Cowboys (1-0)
The Cowboys put a whooping on divisional rival New York Giants in their opener, beating them 40-0. They did everything and more to prove they are one of the NFL’s best teams, and shoutout to everyone who had the Dallas defense in fantasy this weekend. Even with a win like that, I’m still not quite ready to put them ahead of the Eagles.
2. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)
Though the Eagles escaped a potential comeback from the Patriots this weekend, I believe that speaks more about the Pats than it does the Eagles. We know for a fact the Eagles are one of the best teams in the game. They are good all around and should be contender for the Super Bowl come playoff time.
1. San Francisco 49ers (1-0)
No one should have the 49ers outside of the #1 spot in their power ranking. Their defense is probably the best in the game, and their offense is among the highest. Purdy looked good in his comeback, and just has so many offensive weapons around him. They made easy work on the Steelers and will be doing the same to many teams this year.
