Best Bets of the Day (March 14th)
Yesterday was an improvement, thanks to my hockey bets, however, losing in our first leg of the parlay is killing us every day. UCF mounted a comeback after getting off to a slow start. A few momentum changing plays later and a couple questionable referee decisions put BYU back in business and they won easily. I knew I should’ve picked the Wake Forest spread instead, but it is all hindsight at this point. There was never really a doubt with the Roman Josi point prop or the Oilers puck line last night. Both were on fire last night. I feel like today is a big contrast from yesterday. I felt like I was searching high and low for bets and today I feel like there are tons of opportunities. So much so, that I am going to give you two separate 3 bet sequences. I consider this to be the warmup period for March Madness, so there are a ton of good college games to bet and there is also a good slate of hockey as well, so I will give you 3 bets for college basketball and hockey each. Let’s dive right into it!
- College Basketball
Florida State (+10.5) (-108) vs. UNC
Tulsa (ML) (+120) vs. East Carolina
Mississippi State (-5) (-110) vs. LSU
These games are all early slate games and it will give you a chance to separate the college and hockey bets for today. For the first one, I really like Florida State to keep it within 11 points. I don’t think they really have a shot to win, but 11 points is a big spread. I think they will keep it within that frame. In both matchups against the Tar Heels, the Seminoles lost by margins of 8 and 7. Also, when they lose, the vast majority are below an 11-point margin. I think they will lose but will cover this massive spread.
ECU is favored in this contest and I really don’t know why. I’m not going to complain though, I am going to snag up the Tulsa ML and take the extra profits. Sure, ECU won in the only matchup between these two teams, but ECU has been on a freezing cold stretch. They compiled 5 losses to end the season and 2 of those were home games. Tulsa ended the season on a 4-2 stretch and capping it off with a huge win against 24thranked USF. I think they will carry that momentum into this contest and move on in the AAC tourney.
This bet is probably the one that I least like among the ones I picked above, but I think it should hit. Mississippi State defeated LSU by 20 points on February 24th, but they haven’t won a game since. To be fair, they have had an extremely tough schedule from that point after. The SEC was especially tough to get wins in this season. On the bright side, all but 2 of the Bulldogs’ wins have been by more than 5 points, so I am confident if they get their offense going, they should get at least a 5-point victory.
FSU (+10.5); Tulsa (ML); Mississippi State (-5)
3-Bet Parlay: +708
- NHL Regular Season
Florida Panthers (ML) (+105) vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Minnesota Wild (-1.5) (-110) vs. Anaheim Ducks
Dallas Stars (-1.5) (+136) vs. New Jersey Devils
It is tough for me to go against the Hurricanes tonight, but I think they will meet their match tonight. The Panthers are playing like the best team in hockey right now and rightfully so, because they currently sit at the top of the NHL. I kinda understand why the Canes are favored but I don’t think they will win. The Panthers are hitting on all cylinders and they should win tonight. Even if they don’t, I really don’t feel guilty about siding with the best team in hockey in any bet.
We’re going with Minnesota Wild puck line, yet again. Tonight, the Wild are facing the Ducks, who are currently in the phase of trying to get the best pick they can. The Wild are trying to fight for a Wild Card spot. They’re 6 points out and they desperately need to cut that distance. They can do that here tonight. It was either this game or highly risky Arizona Coyotes over the Red Wings. I think I am definitely making the safer choice.
And for the last pick, I will take the Stars in a puck line victory over the Devils. If you need to know how badly the Devils are playing right now, I suggest you following Frank “The Tank” Fleming and backtrack for the last month or so. They recently fired their coach and while they’re technically not out of contention but considering their trend and how good the teams are in the Eastern Conference, they already have one foot in the grave. The Stars are the 2nd best scoring team in hockey and the Devils are the 6th worst in giving up goals. I think that is pretty much all you need to know.
Panthers (ML); Wild (-1.5); Stars (-1.5)
3-Bet Parlay: +823
I personally like this parlay better than the college basketball one. Those are some juicy odds and I think all of these games could easily hit. We shall see how things shake out today, though. Please gamble responsibly and have fun today!
