WWE Power Rankings: Week of October 4th 2020

Here are some rankings for last week’s action. We had back-to-back PPVs and I feel like sometimes rankings are a little pointless to release the week after PPVs, but I wanted to release them this week because I didn’t last week. The shows were decent last week, but things are a little weird due to the draft being on Friday and next Monday. Things are pretty self-explanatory for last week’s rankings, but here they are.

10: Sami Zayn

WWE

WWE

Zayn defended his title against Jeff Hardy in the main event on Friday and retained.. Zayn has looked great in his return matches and he’s really proving himself as a good heel champ.

9: Jey Uso

WWE

WWE

Uso squared off with AJ Styles to determine the new number one contender for Hell in a Cell. Uso claimed a shocking victory and it looks like he will get another shot at Roman Reigns’s Universal Championship.

8: Santos Escobar

WWE

WWE

The Cruiserweight Championship match at TakeOver was very good. Santos Escobar and Isaiah Swerve Scott put on a solid match and to be honest, I was kind of surprised that Escobar walked out as champ. Nevertheless, it was a good match.

7: Kushida

WWE

WWE

Kushida faced Velveteen Dream on Sunday night and the two of them put on good showing. I think Kushida winning is the right call at the moment with the current circumstances, but I really don’t know what this win means for him. The Back to the Future theme was cool.

6: Asuka

WWE

WWE

After defended her title at Clash of Champions, Asuka defended the RAW Women’s belt again the next night on RAW. She defeated Vega again and the match was just as good as the one at the PPV.

5: Roman Reigns

WWE

WWE

Roman’s new character development has been wonderful and that was on full display Friday night. Reigns didn’t have a match on Friday, but his promo and segment with Jey Uso was good enough to land on the rankings this week.

4: Damian Priest

WWE

WWE

Damian Priest and Johnny Gargano had a wonderful match on Sunday night and Priest retaining was the right move going forward. Priest could be in for a lengthy reign, but I guess we’ll see what unfolds in the near future.

3: Io Shirai

WWE

WWE

Io Shirai defended her title successfully against Candice LeRae Sunday night and they both did great. Shirai has been champ for nearly 4 months and she is building on to what has been an impressive reign. Toni Storm popped up in a video package and Ember Moon even made an appearance at the end of the match. The NXT Women’s division just got a little bit stronger.

2: Drew McIntyre

WWE

WWE

The WWE Champion had another successful title reign on last week’s RAW. He held an open challenge for anyone who hasn’t fought for the belt yet and Bobby Roode was the man of the hour. Roode looked great and McIntyre looked just as strong as he has over the last year or so.

1: Finn Balor

WWE

WWE

Bálor and Kyle O’Reilly put on one heck of a performance Sunday night and to be honest, O’Reilly should be in the Top 10 also. It appears Bálor broke his jaw and it looked like O’Reilly lost some teeth in the NXT TakeOver 31 main event. I guess we’ll see what happens with the title situation, but what a match!
